On her process, artist Hannah Lim expresses, "I wanted to slightly separate the designs of my S***f Bottles from myself and instead envision these sculptures as enchanted, animate objects. Alongside this, I had also begun to look more into Chinese mythology and wanted my S***f Bottles to be reflective of the creatures I had started reading about in Chinese and Medieval bestiaries. It has always made perfect sense to sculpt these peculiar, playful and intricate objects with creaturely arms, legs, paws and claws.”

Bring your sculpture to life in your home! Looking to showcase your sculpture in a way that transforms your space? Here are our tips to make it the focal point it deserves:

✨ Natural Light is Key: Place your sculpture near a window, outside, or in a well-lit corner to enhance its textures and shadows throughout the day.

✨ Elevate with Style: Use a pedestal or side table to give smaller sculptures height and presence, making them stand out in your space.

✨ Less is More: Keep the surrounding area minimalist. Let your sculpture shine by reducing nearby visual distractions.

✨ Surprising Spots: Don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Entryways, nooks, and shelves are unexpected places that can turn into stunning art displays.

✨ Play with Perspectives: Experiment with placement! Try angles that invite interaction, like placing it at eye-level or below, so visitors engage with it differently.

This portrait of Jon Buck in his studio, captured by the talented in 2019, offers a glimpse into the creative space where his remarkable work comes to life.

Throughout his career, Buck has drawn inspiration from poetry, science, and anthropology, translating his reflections on the world around us into his art. He has focused on his sculpture carrying an interpretable narrative through which the viewer can discover metaphors for life.

For Buck, an artwork is the product of a historical process of ‘aesthetic co-evolution’ between maker and viewer. The form and surface of each work express the preservation of life, inviting a sensory response through their exploration of our modern culture and universal language of signs and symbols.

Meet Josefina Isaza, our newest Sculpture Source artist 🐚

Josefina’s ceramics immediately captivated us with their highly tactile glazes, inspired by the language of the natural world. Her work features hundreds of tiny, hair-like spikes, each meticulously crafted using a coiling technique and carefully attached one by one.

As Josefina describes, “My work demonstrates how visual stimuli can be achieved by grouping single elements to form a larger gestalt whole, as reflected throughout nature.”

Growing up in rural Wales, Joseph Paxton has long been fascinated by the place of animals within our natural and cultural historical landscapes and the timeless connection, yet separation, we have with the animal world.

"I constantly seek new stories to tell through use of the animal form, that invite us to explore the connections between species and the physical world we inhabit. For millennia, the animal kingdom has held a special place in the human imagination due to their unique abilities and behaviours. I think that this sense of wonder and a desire to connect with their otherness still captivates us."

In the UK summer has finally arrived so its making us think of sculptures that can be enjoyed outside. ☀️

Bruce Beasley’s signature intersecting cuboid forms can be seen here in his fabulous sculpture 'Thrust' and are reminiscent of natural crystalline structures, with sumptuous patinas adding to their organic essence. By breaking out of an expected pattern, his sculpture also has roots in early Modernism, which aimed to reassess the confines of the cube. Throughout Beasley's work he focuses on space that can be experienced, manipulating mass and volume in order to construct the impression of silence or movement.

On World Environment Day, we recognise the exceptional talent of Michael Cooper in capturing the inner essence of animals through his unique wildlife sculptures.

The smooth surfaces and quiet energy of the animals he depicts make them irresistibly tactile, an aspect which is undoubtedly linked to the careful way in which they are first created from hand-carving blocks of stone. Let’s raise awareness for with his remarkable bronze Polar Bear sculpture! 🌍🌿🐾
