Injured in 2012, Stewart found a different path through the Soldiers Arts Academy. Working across poetry, art, music, and sculpture. A shift from injury and loss toward meaning, connection, and the beauty of life.

David Hinds. 20 years in the Army, infantry service in Belfast
“When I pick up the brush, it comes from the heart.”
“Art is good for the soul, the brain, and the heart.”
Living with PTSD and limited mobility, David has turned to painting as a way forward. A space to focus, and find a sense of calm.
This is his first time exhibiting publicly. A moment of pride, and a commitment to support the Soldiers Arts Academy through his work. His paintings are direct reflections of how he feels. Unfiltered, and personal.

Richard Hughes. Former Royal Marine
Now exhibiting for a second time with the Soldiers Arts Academy.
His work draws from life experience, often inspired by the ocean.
A process that mirrors the movement of the sea with the ups and downs of the creative process.

Amber Guymer-Hosking. 11 years as a Combat Medical Technician. “Painting has been part of my healing journey.”
Her work describes service and recovery, and a perspective often overlooked - Representing the presence of women on the front line, where many served as medics. There is more to the military story than one narrative.
Strong women have always been part of it.
