Support Soldiers Arts Academy. Double your impact.
We are now live with our BIG Give campaign and are asking for your support. By becoming a Pledger for Soldiers Arts Academy, you provide match funding that will double every donation made to SAA during the campaign. Your support goes directly into growing our creative arts programme, enabling more online classes, retreats, and exhibitions for the Armed Forces community.
Through structured creative practice, we help serving personnel and veterans build focus, confidence, and connection.

Creativity supporting success - creative practice supporting focus, confidence and growth
A huge congratulations to one of our SAA members, known to many as Sugar Free Steve, who has recently achieved a First Class Honours degree.
Alongside his studies, Steve has been attending SAA art sessions, using creativity as a space to slow down, focus and develop a positive routine. The discipline of making art, taking time to observe and staying present can provide valuable support for wellbeing, confidence and personal progress.
It is also a great example of how creative opportunities can help people build skills, find direction and move forward.
Well done Steve. A fantastic achievement!
If you are part of the Armed Forces community and would like to explore your own creative journey, join SAA.

Shared with permission. Steve has been a valued member of SAA, regularly attending sessions while working towards his degree.

Sunflowers and Spirit - Painting with presence, not performance
Inspired by Van Gogh, our recent sunflower demo: Technique alone is nothing without spirit. What matters is the quiet, internal drive to see, to feel, to respond. Not fitting into someone else’s idea, but allowing your own voice to emerge.
In the session, we worked from life, slowing down, staying present, lead by curiosity. No gimmicks. Just paint, observation, and an honest emotional response.
When we are connected, we can go deeper. Sensitivity sharpens. Choices become meaningful. The work begins to say something real.
This is where truth and beauty live.
Join us and create and paint with purpose.

Armed Forces Day.
To recognise the commitment, resilience, and service of those who serve and have served.
At the Soldiers Arts Academy, we work alongside veterans and serving personnel who continue that commitment in a different form. Through art, music, writing and performance, they find new ways to process experience, rebuild confidence, and move forward.
To all members of the armed forces community, past and present, thank you for your service.
If you are looking for a safe space to create and regain focus, we are here.

SMALL CHARITIES WEEK | 22–29 JUNE
Behind every painting, poem, or piece of music at the Soldiers’ Arts Academy is a personal journey.
A need for space. A way to process. A step towards reconnecting.
We provide structured, diverse creative tuition within a safe and supportive environment. What follows is more than skill development. It becomes confidence building, community forming and a renewed sense of direction.
Small charities rely on direct support to continue this work.
If you believe in the value of creative practice as a pathway to wellbeing, your contribution helps us keep that space open for others.

There’s something powerful about putting experience into words.
Kent Johnston, a veteran of the RAF with 12 years of service, including operational tours, has become a committed member of the Soldiers’ Arts Academy. Through Poetry, Singing, Acting and Art, he continues to explore new ways of expression.
On a recent visit to the West Highlands, the scale and stillness of Loch Ness prompted Kent to write a poem on Nessie.
For Kent, this process matters:
“Being part of SAA has proved paramount for a whole myriad of reasons and provides a positive, inspirational focus for the future.”
Creative practice offers more than output. It creates space. Space to think, to process, and to move forward.

Sarah Berger - Actor | SAA collaborator
“Art allows you to express yourself, whatever you’re going through.”
“You lose yourself completely in the process, and never stop learning.”
Working with veterans through theatre, including Soldier On, she later connected with the Soldiers Arts Academy and its wider creative community. Across disciplines, the same thread remains.
Making as a way to focus, to express, and to reconnect.
