Did a bit of experimenting today and made three collages using my drawings of Nick Drake and James Joyce.

I’m really loving using the scanner atm to mess with the drawings. I’m really happy with how these turned out so think I will do this again. Let me know what you think.

Just uploded the statement for my recent series of paintings entitled ‘Escape!’ on my website.

It is an interesting read that details the thoughts and ideas behind these four paintings. For this series I focused on the idea of escapism, or the urge to escape from the mundanity of daily life.

I hope you can find it interesting and perhaps relatable.

The images are a collection of the four paintings drawn onto the text then shifted around using a copier.

Go to my website to check it out: https://tomallwintonart.com/2023/09/27/escapism-supplementary-text-for-the-escape-series/

Thanks!

This piece is now available to purchase on my Kaleido page. You can find this in the ‘shop’ section on my website. Link to my website is in my bio.

Description:

“This piece utilises the car being towed symbol to create the same feelings one has when seeing this sign, these being caution and uncertainty. I often use these symbols in my art as I really enjoy their simplicity. As we are constantly surrounded by them in public spaces, seeing them in a new context changes the way we view them. I hope for the wild brush marks and jagged newspaper cut outs to reflect the emotion conjured by such a symbol.”
