We’re delighted to be part of On Paper: Drawings from the Renaissance to the Modern Day, presented by as the exhibition travels from Houston to Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin.

Our contribution brings together two very different approaches to watercolour.

In Venetian Windows I (Ca’ d’Oro), Gerard Stamp turns his attention to the intricate architecture of Venice, capturing the detail of its Gothic façade and the shifting sunlight across the stone.

Rosie Sanders’ Fire and Ice offers a striking contrast, with richly coloured peonies filling the composition in a celebration of floral form, colour and change.

Two works that demonstrate the remarkable range of what can be achieved on paper.

We look forward to the exhibition continuing its journey across Texas.

A closer look at the artist we’ll be bringing to .

Craig Wylie is known for his quietly compelling still lifes, where light, colour and the relationships between objects are considered with extraordinary care.

His work revolves principally around the search to extend the genres of still-life and figure painting.

He has an extraordinary ability to seize the appearance of his subjects with tremendous fluency and ease, but this is only the start. Suspicious of this innate virtuosity, he prefers the harder won image. Working from life, with forays into the use of a laptop for his large portrait heads, Wylie has developed a multi-faceted but singular approach to these genres.
With deep respect for the traditions of the past, being greatly motivated by Old Masters such as Chardin and Velasquez amongst many, he also has a deep seated desire to try and contribute to this tradition, not just make moribund, mannered pastiches of it.

Wylie is exhibited and collected internationally with recent exhibitions in the US, Germany, Hong Kong, France and Belgium. He has won numerous awards including Ist Prize in the prestigious BP Portrait Award at the National Portrait Gallery, London as well as the London Region Prize at the Hunting Prize held at the Royal College of Art, London. He has work in the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery and that of the Neuer Kunstverein, Aschaffenburg, Germany.

We’re excited to be heading to Chicago this week for the . ✈️

We’ll be presenting a focused selection of paintings by , bringing together a number of his highly considered still lifes.

Known for his exceptional sensitivity to light, colour and composition, Wylie finds quiet relationships between everyday objects and transforms them into paintings of remarkable presence.

It will be a wonderful opportunity to see a selection of his work together.
