Autojeu Theatre

Autojeu Theatre www.autojeutheatre.co.uk Autojeu Theatre was founded in early 2009 by Sam Gibbs. The company is devoted to making playful, fun and imaginative work.

AUTOJEU =

AUTO: Automatic: self-moving, spontaneous, instinctive

JEU: “Philippe Gaulier teaches Le Jeu, the pleasure it engenders and the imaginary world it unveils. Actors are always beautiful when you can see around the characters, their souls at play, opening the door of the imaginary world”

AUTOJEU: “Automatic and playful, finding the fun and the pleasure in all that we do to pass the game and the imagination it creates on to you, the audience.” (Sam Gibbs, 2011)

Lovely to return to Barnstaple this year - thanks to all for another amazing Fringe!

Autojeu Theatre returns to Barnstaple this year with their unique retelling of King Arthur (one of two shows, the other being Escaping Event Horizons). This is a firm favourite with families of all…

Thank you Fringe TheatreFest and all you wonderful souls who make the impossible possible. We did, as ever, have an absolute blast.

The kindness, generosity of spirit, support and general good will is incomparable to anything else.

You are, all of you, those who organise, who volunteer, perform, watch, support and celebrate, a rare breed.

Thank you!

We.Are.Back!

Great to open at Fringe TheatreFest and be back at this wonderful festival. Huge thank you to the volunteers and team behind the festival who make this gem of a fest happen.

This is only the beginning for One Man King Arthur after our little outing and cannot wait to see the next steps it takes. Here are some lovely words that the review team wrote about our little show:

Great to be able to watch some wonderful work as well. We managed to catch:

White Hippos with 'The Corpus'. As ever unparrelled storytelling weaved with magic, unimaginable global truths and personal tales. Beautiful and captivating.
https://backzevore.co.uk with 'Poor Old Horse'. So beautiful we saw this twice! Young and old alike spellbound with their blend of song, story, puppetry and imagination
Emily Carding Actor and Theatre Maker with 'Quintessence'. A solo spectacle that has to be seen to be believed.
i.e. 'Re:Submission'. A window into the mind of Elliot and his misadventures. Humorous and enthralling at every turn.
Above Bounds Theatre Collective and 'The Silly Squirrel'. A wonderful sensory playful tale that had our little ones captivated from start to end!
Jarfrog 'Begin'. A window into the meaning of it all bringing disillusion and revelation in the world that has left the characters behind.

And last, but not least, THE GREAT SURMO! Managed to find him weaving his magic, as Theatrest is not complete without seeing him perform!
