It has now been one month since Prehistoric Planets: Discovering Dinosaurs opened at Lightroom, and we’ve been delighted by the wonderful reviews the show has received.

Equally rewarding has been witnessing in-person audience reactions as visitors of all ages have engaged with the time-travelling adventure.

There’s still plenty of time to catch the production if you haven’t seen it yet 🦖

59 Studio is a 2025 Tony Award winner!

Yesterday, it was announced that alongside Miriam Buether, 59 Studio has been awarded the Tony Award for Best Scenic Design of a Play for our work on Stranger Things: The First Shadow on Broadway.

Having worked so hard on this project, the team is thrilled to have received this result. It is an honour to be commended in this way amongst so many other fantastic productions.

Congratulations to everyone who worked on the Broadway production and the original West End show. We are thrilled that the play has also won a special Tony award for Illusions and Technical Effects.

A new 59 project is on the horizon. 🦖

Opening in just over a month, Prehistoric Planet is the latest show to take over Lightroom King’s Cross.

Evoking a feeling of wonder, audiences will be guided on a once in a lifetime adventure, exploring the fascinating role dinosaurs have played in shaping our world from 66 million years ago until now. We’re very excited for the show to launch at Lightroom on July 9th.

Today marks one month since the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan, opened.

Collaborating with Foster + Partners on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Pavilion, we helped to create a new approach to pavilion design, combining architecture, design, storytelling, and technology.

Within the pavilion, over the course of a 26-week programme, a group of talented resident KSA artists create new work as visitors explore the space. Each evening, this work is showcased inside the grand courtyard in an evolving nightly show, combining KSA’s rich cultural offering with world-class architecture and design.

Since opening, the pavilion has attracted 1.2 million guests, and we hope to welcome many more throughout he 6-month programme.

Our new show ( and our third at ), VOGUE: Inventing the Runway opened this week! Working alongside and playing with the extensive archives of both the magazine and the fashion houses, 59’s team wove together a visual story that traces the evolution of the fashion show from its earliest days in the salons of Paris to the global phenomenon that it is today.

The show uses a cycle of thematic chapters to bring the story to life, making connections between the ways in which designers have used the runway at different points in history. The fact that fashion shows tend to be conceived and mounted so rapidly means that they are uniquely placed to respond to the zeitgeist. As such, the show is also something of a cultural history of the 20th century.

Tens of thousands of archive images, videos, drawings, archive audio recordings were brought together with bespoke animation, sound design, music, newly recorded interviews with Vogue editors to create a richly layered experience for the audience, with the narration for the piece recorded by double Oscar winner Cate Blanchett.

After several months of curatorial development, script writing and design work, the piece was put together in the show space at Lightroom, with the component parts layered together during extensive technical rehearsals. The result - we hope - is to give audiences an unparalleled opportunity to witness some of the greatest moments in fashion show history, as if viewed from the front row.
