Charmaine Simpson, founder and CEO of Black History Studies, will introduce two short films and lead a discussion following this screening with the filmmakers.

THE PAN MAN: Winner of the Best Audience Film at the Portobello Film Festival, "The Pan Man" documentary is a must-see. Watch Russ Henderson's journey of perseverance, spreading steel pan music in the UK, Notting Hill Carnival, from poverty to receiving an MBE.

MAS RESISTANCE: a visuals arts project incorporating spoken word, video, music and performance to capture archive and promote the dying art of Mas (storytelling through costume) in Notting Hill Carnival. It includes contemporary works such as Symone Williams' Midnight Jumbie and the final masterpiece of Vernon "Fellows" Williams, founding member of Notting Hill Carnival. The film is a portrait of the Williams family as they strive to keep traditional mas culture and characters alive.

Last year we screened Anna Muylaert's incredible film THE SECOND MOTHER and we're delighted to offer London audiences its first chance to see her latest film THE BEST MOTHER IN THE WORLD.

Sunday's screening will have a panel discussion following the film with speakers to be confirmed.

We're still pinching ourselves after welcoming the incredible Academy Award winning actress Jessie Buckley to The Lexi last night to introduce the UK Theatrical Premiere of I'M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS and London Premiere of HOW TO SHOOT A GHOST ❤️

We're so thankful to Jessie for coming along and touched to hear about her own relationship with The Lexi. She introduced both films and even read out a surprise message from the film's director Charlie Kaufman!

We're so proud to have breathed cinematic life into this film's journey and implore you not to miss the opportunity to see it on the big screen as it continues to play here in the coming days. See it in our beautiful communal 'sitting room' space, and not your actual sitting room!
