A glimpse into AILEEN GAVONEL’s practice, ahead of KEEPING THINGS WHOLE.
Opening 7 October at Brixton House.
Working primarily with ceramics, Aileen Gavonel explores making as a way of knowing, one shaped through touch, intuition and sustained attention to materials.
Clay, in her work, is more than something to be shaped. Its moisture, resistance and ability to record touch become part of the thinking itself, allowing gestures and traces to hold forms of knowledge that are not always easily put into words.
For the exhibition, Aileen will present ‘Conocer a oscuras’, a new installation developed from her ongoing work with ceramic books and embodied practices.
