Calligraphy and Papercutting is a new and exciting 8 week course taking place at City Lit in London. You will discover how to make exciting compositions using calligraphy with paper cutting techniques. You will be guided through the principles of calligraphy and learn how to draw with a scalpel through a series of creative step-by-step projects. We will look at the history of paper cutting and the work of contemporary paper cutting artists to understand how they use letterforms and images in their paper cut designs. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers.

By the end of this course you should be able to...
• turn images into paper cut designs
• embed a piece of text within a cut paper design
• create a piece of work from a sketch to a final design
More advanced students:
• work on self-directed projects with support from the tutor.
