EXODUS NUZUH IDONG Chū āijí EXODE EXODO (2020)

When Covid-19 hit, an urgency came with it to ‘do something’. NOE hosted an online gig to spark a discussion on what the situation might be for the world’s migrants and refugee communities during the global pandemic. Funded by we hosted Mo Sarrar of and an audience of 100 to sing, talk and grieve for what we all knew was to be an incredibly tough time for those already made vulnerable by war and society.

NOE produced alongside for five years. This unbelievable night time creative urban walking tour of cities has taken NOE (and hundreds of others!) to sing in carparks in Dalston, train platform storytelling sessions and dawn yoga at Greenwich Peninsula - all under the cover of night. SMALL PEOPLE BIG PROTESTS (2018)

This festival takeover was created from a commission. After 10 brilliant years of working with this project felt like a hybrid of all things Coney & NOE. In two hours and took a muddy field and 15 kids and turned them into a DIY protest march against all things climate harming - a cause choose by the participants. Hey, I’m George founder of No Ordinary Experience. I started NOE in 2015 to bring together artist development and cross artform innovation for to make great participation projects... basically making cool s**t with cool people. My passion has always been unexpected work in unexpected places and I love merging that with questions around how we live our lives, today.

90% of NOE collaborators are diverse, womxn & non-binary. Not because we 'have' to, but because that’s who is making the work that will create the change we need to see. I believe this change needs to come from the top of our power structures also work with the big organisations to make change intentional, a part of their day to day. A lot of that work is about values, too. We have to move passed organisation who publically celebrate equality but who might have staff who feel excluded or who commissions the same type of artist every time?


We know the arts sector is struggling right now and so 2021 is all about supporting as many artists & communities as possible to be creative in this new world order. Ahead of the first of many 2021 projects I'm sharing some previous work, amazing collaborators and artists who are changing the narrative.

NO ORDINARY EXPERIENCE
No Ordinary Experience (NOE) waas founded in 2015. We are small (but growing) Arts agency creating ground breaking participation projects, for everybody.

NOE projects facilitate everyone’s participation in social change, connecting them to creative experiences which have personal, local or societal impact.

We often work in outside spaces or online using co-creation methodologies. NOE projects aim to break the normality of the day-to-day with SPECTACLE whilst also exploring challenging conversations about how we live today. A NOE project should not easily be forgotten.
