I was in Ireland for Bealtaine (Irish spelling). We held a dance, fire circle and ceremony to wed the land. Since our Mum died, my sister and I have spent our time getting the property back in beautiful, magical order. We host retreats, ceremonies and you can now rent one of our apartments and spend time on the land yourself.

As an artist I get to use painting as a kind of alchemy. It's a way to grapple with life and find a way through. When I'm painting, it's not just for me, but for the world.

Anyway, I've come back to the series I started last year, while accompanying Mum on her pathway towards dying. I called it Out Of Chaos. The paintings take all the emotions that are swirling about, from internal and external events, and aim to create some harmony.

Have you ever heard of an Immram? In Irish mythology it's a hero's journey undertaken by sea to the Otherworld. I often think of the internal tides and moods and the courage it takes to sail them. The paintings I've selected for prints all work as guides to the treasure we might find when we undertake this inner journey.
