WANDER / WONDER began with this painting. A loading circle. The kind we stare at every day waiting for something to happen.
Back in January, I was in a slightly catatonic state. I had that insatiable urge to create but felt stuck. One morning, I found this beautiful handmade wooden frame abandoned on the street. Without a plan, I painted it and covered the edges in clay that slowly sagged and cracked like melting ice, mirroring my own feeling of stagnation. I added a loading circle without knowing why.
But the more I worked and reworked it, the more something started to unlock.
It made me think about waiting differently. What if waiting isn’t passive? What if it’s actually a period to wander before you wonder. To drift, process, notice, unravel, reconnect. A subconscious state where thoughts, memories, fears, desires, and possibilities quietly rearrange themselves before action becomes possible.
Creation isn’t always conscious.
The project grew from that idea that waiting is not empty or wasted time, but a hidden state of transformation.
