The news comes by way of the FTC who are still currently investigating the proposed buy-out of Activision-Blizzard by Microsoft, and was spotted by Gamerant. A motion on March 14th signed by the defence counsel seeks to make Microsoft reveal documents pertaining to its next-gen console. The most interesting aspect of this is that the motion actually names the machine, though it has obviously been redacted.

The bad news? We don’t know how much this thing is going to cost. Asus hasn’t even hinted at a price, an obvious hint that they don’t intend to match the Steam Deck’s $400 asking price. Given the hardware the Ally has under its hood, we can assume it’s going to be aimed as a more bespoke option for people with money to burn

So, it’s obvious this isn’t a Game Pass competitor, first and foremost. Despite costing roughly the same price as Microsoft’s subscription service, PlayStation Plus Extra won’t be getting Sony’s big new first-party titles day-and-date like Microsoft is doing with all of its releases, reinforcing the idea that Sony still solidly believes in the £70 game model.
