1. Simplicity is key, doing the simple things well is one of the hardest things in the game. Intricacy reduces scope and reduces your target audience. If you can’t imagine a football crowd singing your melody it’s not catchy

2. Show your face, humans connect with other humans not random photos of your laptop or food. To develop fan connection you have to be authentically yourself and show this through your social channels

3. Make the music YOU like. Without knowing, you’ve been studying the music you enjoy your entire life. Play to this strength or risk making worse music. Lack of artistic integrity is one of the most obvious things to listeners whether they know it or not

4. Find and study music of opposing genres, you learn things you’d never normally learn and these lessons will aid your production in abstract ways.

5. People don’t owe you anything, don’t expect people to find and stream your music even if it is amazing! Bring the music to them. ‘Go stream my new track’ has never worked and never will

Can’t believe I’m gonna say this…

A song I made in my uni bedroom, with no help or links to the music industry, has just hit 1 billion streams on Spotify.

This is the kind of number you can’t comprehend — the type of number you just don’t get on songs, the type of number that just doesn’t happen… let alone your 4th release.

I am genuinely so grateful to everyone who’s been involved, and I will forever cherish this moment ❤️

It’s only now I’ve realised how much happened this year, here’s a breakdown of January - June.

Jan:

- 1st Aus tour of the year
- played and 2 other shows in the same night

Feb:

- Met the Sony Aus team
- made it my mission to tame a possum

March:

- flew back to Dublin to my own headline show
- jumped back in the studio with

April:

- Refresh of press shots
- stadium show in Germany

May:

- asked to remix beautiful people by himself
-ended up at the biggest side quest ever

June:

- did a week long tour round the Greek islands
- played the legendary
