Gotta thank Solomun for this one…

Happy to deliver you guys my second Double Dot release, ‘Dancefloor’ — a club-driven techno banger. I literally made this the day after watching Solomun at Ally Pally, I was so inspired by his music. The huge leads, rolling bass, and overall ‘size’ of his sound really grabbed me and led me straight into making this.

Thanks for the support on Double Dot, let’s keep it rolling!

1. Simplicity is key, doing the simple things well is one of the hardest things in the game. Intricacy reduces scope and reduces your target audience. If you can’t imagine a football crowd singing your melody it’s not catchy

2. Show your face, humans connect with other humans not random photos of your laptop or food. To develop fan connection you have to be authentically yourself and show this through your social channels

3. Make the music YOU like. Without knowing, you’ve been studying the music you enjoy your entire life. Play to this strength or risk making worse music. Lack of artistic integrity is one of the most obvious things to listeners whether they know it or not

4. Find and study music of opposing genres, you learn things you’d never normally learn and these lessons will aid your production in abstract ways.

5. People don’t owe you anything, don’t expect people to find and stream your music even if it is amazing! Bring the music to them. ‘Go stream my new track’ has never worked and never will
