Kitty Blandy 🎨

Kitty Blandy is a figurative artist whose practice sits within contemporary conversations around embodiment and perception. Known for using minimal line to create complete and expressive forms, she works primarily with drawing, print, and sculpture. Her work explores the body as a site of sensation and consciousness, driven by a sustained interest in both the experience of being in a body and the act of observing it. Blandy's work is held in a range of private and public collections, including the National Portrait Gallery, London.

Artistic movement - Expressionism 🎨

Expressionism can be described as an avant-garde art movement that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Rooted largely in Germany, it aimed to express subjectivity through exaggerated artistic renderings, seeking truth not in physical reality but in emotional experiences.

This movement emphasized the depiction of raw human emotions over objective reality. Artists channelled their feelings about the world's existential dread or euphoric beauty onto canvases using a distinct set of techniques. The main goal was not to depict a faithful visual replica but allowing their emotional landscape dictate the directions their artwork took.

Howard Grey 🌟

Grey studied photography at Leicester College of Art (1957 – 1958), and Ealing School of Photography (1958 – 1960). Following art school, he worked as an assistant photographer at Woburn Studios at first, then set up a studio in Knightsbridge, establishing himself as one of the first few commercial photographers working in London in the early 1960s. Between 1963 & 1969, he was engaged in a variety of fashion and TV commercial assignments. His expertise in optics, photochemistry and perspective took him around the world with brands such as Japan Airlines, Hitachi, Nat West and BT. In the eighties, Howard started creating library photography for Getty Images and soon became one of their most successful stock image photographers internationally. As a specialist in nineteenth and early twentieth century photographic processes and equipment, he has worked as an independent consultant and advisor to Sotheby’s Photographic department.

In the summer of 1962, as a young photographer, Grey witnessed an important moment in the emergence of Britain’s multicultural society. He shot one roll of high contrast black and white film using only natural light, photographing a diverse constituency of migrants at the end of a long journey. The portfolio charts the arrival of the last West Indian migrants at Waterloo Station, London, before the Commonwealth Immigrants Act of 1962 came into force. After over half a century in oblivion, these historic 'Windrush' negatives, have been expertly scanned and published online to critical acclaim in 2014. In A Different Light constitutes the first museum acquisition of this body of work for a public collection

Last chance to enter the Piet Mondrian draw.

“I wish to approach truth as closely as is possible, and therefore I abstract everything until I arrive at the fundamental quality of objects.” — Piet Mondrian

In collaboration with The Mondrian/Holtzman Trust, we’ve released three of Mondrian’s most iconic compositions as limited edition prints, each available in an edition of 300 and finished with a bespoke authentication stamp inspired by the artist’s signature from the period.

🎨 Remembering Fernand Léger

Today marks the death anniversary of Fernand Léger (1881–1955), the pioneering French artist whose bold, modern approach helped shape the development of 20th-century art.

A key figure in the Cubist movement, Léger developed a distinctive visual language of geometric forms, mechanical influences, and vibrant colour, exploring the relationship between art, technology, and modern life.

In 2026, Léger’s works have entered the public domain, opening new opportunities to explore his work.

Artistic movement - Realism 🌟

Often when people hear 'realism,' they think of something truthful or factually accurate. Yet in intellectual discourse, realism takes on a spectrum of meanings, steeped in philosophical query and aesthetic theory.

At its core, realism can be defined as an orientation that posits the existence of the objective world - a world external to human thoughts and perceptions. To put it simply, realists believe that what is perceived exists independently irrespective of us perceiving them.

Appreciating the myriad facets of realism starts with recognizing how expansive and influential realism has been throughout history. As we cast our intellectual nets wide across disciplines like art history, literature, philosophy, sociology discourse up until international politics – you’ll find bright threads of realism interwoven meticulously.
