Let’s not forget the launch of Redfall, too, which at the time of publishing is around 24 hours away. Microsoft will be looking for a win here, especially after we found out how poorly their consoles are selling. Personally, I’m kind of excited to check Redfall out, probably because of how much I love Arkane. I’m really hoping they pull something special out of the bag.

It paints a very clear picture, though: transmedia strategies can and do work. The Last of Us has been another recent example with the show doing so well that it boosted the game sales massively. For good or bad, the future may include a lot of movie/game/tv show crossover, and Nintendo will be eager to be in the fight.

The rest of the chart doesn’t hold much of interesting. Despite the initially glowing reviews, probably because EA didn’t send out much PC code, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has seen a 68% drop in sales. That’s not uncommon for any new release, though, as the vast majority of sales are accounted for when it first launches.
