Why is Justin Bieber in fashion?
Long before SKYLRK, Bieber had already become one of the most influential dressers of his generation.
His evolution mirrors his music. The polished teen-pop image gave way to oversized silhouettes, vintage sportswear, skate culture, workwear, luxury labels and a relaxed approach to dressing that would later become mainstream. What many dismissed as “throwing on baggy clothes” quietly influenced a generation of fans and brands.
In 2018, Bieber co-founded Drew House, a label built around comfort, oversized fits and playful graphics. Rather than chasing luxury, Drew House embraced an anti-fashion philosophy that unexpectedly became a global streetwear success.
Years later, he stepped away from Drew House and introduced SKYLRK—a more personal venture under his creative direction. The shift is clear. The bold smiley-face branding has been replaced by sculptural footwear, futuristic accessories, refined silhouettes and immersive retail experiences. SKYLRK feels less like merchandise and more like a design studio exploring lifestyle through product.
Therefore, his recent appearance at the SKYLRK NYC Pop-Up was an occasion of the founder stepping into the world he’s been building.
At CDLS, that’s what interests us most.
Not just what people wear.
But how culture becomes design—and how design becomes identity.
What do you think: is SKYLRK the natural evolution of Justin Bieber’s creative journey, or do you prefer the Drew House era?
