Singing Hands was established in 2003 by Suzanne Miell-Ingram and Tracy Upton MBEs. Suzanne and Tracy are both parents of children with additional needs (Ella and Miles, born in 1999). They are both Makaton Regional Tutors and have appeared on Cbeebies TIKKABILLA and the award-winning Makaton signing programme SOMETHING SPECIAL with Mr Tumble. Singing Hands run baby and toddler music signing classes in SW London and offer educational concerts in a range of settings including nurseries, mainstream & special schools (from nursery through to college age students), hospices, children's centres. Singing Hands run weekly sessions at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital and monthly sessions at Evelina Children's Hospital in London. Singing Hands perform at large events such as London Zoo Special Children's Day, for various SEN Support Group events and for young people and adults at Youth Groups / MENCAP Gateway groups / Colleges. Singing Hands offer an extensive repertoire of music from nursery rhymes and actions songs for younger children through to show tunes & pop songs for older children, teenagers and adults. Singing Hands perform LIVE with bespoke backing tracks and can perform to both smaller groups and to large theatre based events for many hundreds. Singing Hands have produced 3 nursery rhymes DVDs and CDs and 2 Christmas DVDs and CDs and a Pop DVD & CD in association with the Makaton Charity. They have also produced 2 Makaton signed songbooks which are now available in pdf downloadable format. All these resources are available from the Singing Hands online shop. Suzanne and Tracy are both Ambassadors for Skylarks Charity and Patrons of the Makaton Charity. They were awarded MBEs in the 2021 Queen’s NY Honours List for Services to Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
