We’re delighted to announce Tricia Arthur-Stubbs as our new Candoco Fellow! 🎉

Tricia is a dance artist, facilitator and creative producer with over 21 years’ experience across performance, education, community engagement and creative project development. Her practice is rooted in carnival dance and inclusive practice, and in a belief that dance should be accessible, representative and connected to the communities it serves.

Tricia is the founder and director of Black Roots and Voices Expressed (BRAVE) Festival, leads the Black Led Arts Network, and is Co-Director of Bradford Cultural Voice Forum.

“I’m now ready to develop my own leadership practice, in a way that merges artistic vision, access, communities and organisational development.”

We’re so excited to welcome Tricia to Candoco and look forward to supporting her work through the Fellowship. 💚

More than a commission.

Choreo Accelerator gives D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent choreographers the space, resources and support to develop an ambitious new work – from early ideas through to a national tour.

Three choreographers will first take part in a paid Commissioning Readiness Programme, with mentoring, specialist advice and dedicated time to develop their ideas. One will then receive the full commission, produced by Candoco, with a guaranteed tour to at least six UK venues.

What can dance become when it’s made for the camera?

Motion Shorts is a new Candoco programme exploring dance, movement and choreography made for phones, social platforms and digital audiences.

There are now two opportunities for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent artists:

Motion Shorts Call Out — submit a short film (30 seconds–3 minutes) for the chance to receive £500, plus access support and opportunities to reach new audiences. Applications close 26 October, 11am GMT.

Motion Shorts Workshop — a two-day practical workshop exploring movement for camera, framing, filming and making work for social platforms. 19–20 October, London. £75.

What if someone backed your biggest choreographic idea?

That's the question behind Choreo Accelerator, Candoco's new programme for D/deaf, disabled and neurodivergent choreographers.

One choreographer will receive artistic, producing and touring support to create a new commission, working with the dancers and creative team they choose. The finished work will tour nationally.

As Candoco celebrates 35 years, we're delighted that Outside In (1994) will be available as part of this year's Dance Umbrella Festival Digital Pass from 7 Oct - 30 Nov.

Featuring Candoco co-founder Celeste Dandeker-Arnold, this award-winning film captures the pioneering spirit of our early years and helped redefine who could be seen on stage – and on screen.

Over 12 months, the Fellow will work across Candoco’s programmes, lead the creative development of our podcast Making Space, and develop an independent project exploring ideas that matter to them.
