Since 2006 ,Exchange Theatre, a bilingual theatre organisation translating and producing unknown new international productions, revisited foreign classic translations in English and sensory experiences for audiences. From 2012, we have also been developing ambitious multilingual plays to critical acclaim, and from 2016, we devised shows exploring in particular the decolonization of representations

. Strong of a portfolio of over 30 professional shows and as many community showcases, Exchange Theatre is now followed by a multicultural and diverse audience and co-produces migrants shows with their London Bridge space, The Trap.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Echange Theatre or Exchange Theatre, is an international company which started in 2006 in London to translate and produce unknown or rare French-speaking plays in English. With the use of a strong visual imagery, live music and multilingualism, Exchange Theatre's productions offer a true sensorial experience. Led by David Furlong and F***y Dulin, the company translated for the first time plays from major French playwrights like Paul Claudel, Georges Feydeau and Xavier Durringer (London and off Broadway) before being resident at the French Institute from 2010 to 2012. Since then, we produce ambitious double productions off west end (the shows are both shown in English and French). Beside the professional company, Echange Theatre created the first amateur drama class in French for French speaking people living in London. We work from our studio space in London Bridge (available for hire) at the heart of London. Visit our website: www.exchangetheatre.com

HOW DID IT ALL BEGIN? Playwright began cooking up SĂșper Chefs over five years ago as part of her MA in Theatre for Young Audiences, with MAYA Productions' very own Artistic Director Suzanne Gorman as her mentor

Suzanne looks back & spills the beans: "It's about a Latin American family. It's a family who has a Mexican grandmother; there's a Colombian mother and a British-born Mexican Colombian boy. And I thought that that was, again, something that we don't often see on our stages. We don't get to experience the stories that come from that community"

In 2021, MAYA Productions served up a work-in-progress version at Bold Theatre & Espacio MamĂĄ, a group composed of London-based parents & their children.

Together, they sautéed the script, and the children learned about , (like Mighty Mujer!), questioning stereotypes & intergenerational dynamics

Along the way MAYA met David Furlong and bilingual came on board as supporter, rehearsal host and co-promoter.

MAYA Productions also teamed up with teachers & pupils at St Anthony's School in Southwark, baking a series of workshops & educational resources for primary school children (up to KS1). Now, SĂșper Chefs comes with a side of learning to give young audiences something wholesome to chew on!

SĂșper Chefs debut ran at Peckham Theatre and Stanley Arts Centre in London, and Migration Matters Festival in Sheffield. And OH WAS THAT FUN!

We can't wait to bring the show back & grow la familia with a national !!

What a beautiful weekend!

Exactly 10 years ago, Exchange Theatre produced A FAMILY AFFAIR & UN AIR DE FAMILLE by Agnes Jaoui and JP Bacri, inaugurating the formula of professional shows produced in both English and French. A landmark on our journey.

This weekend, by enchantment and without premeditation, our students of Le Workshop - Cours de theatre en francais a Londres chose this same play it as if to unknowingly celebrate a birthday. Directed by Hervé Goffings, they were brilliant.

Full circle. Jean-Pierre Bacri has departed since. But the relay of this very human writing remains alive. Real values of unity and consideration. And even more so the day after the elections in both our countries.

This week, the Enfin en Scùne festival continues with David Furlong's staging of COTÉ SCENE COTÉ ORCHESTRE by the great French theatre-maker Jean-françois Sivadier

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK on our french Theatre festival are excellent !

THE NEW BARBARIANS by Frédéric El Kaïm are on for their last night TONIGHT ! Directed by David Furlong

UN AIR DE FAMILLE ce week-end
COTÉ SCENE COTÉ ORCHESTRE la semaine prochaine,

“A Punch”
« Poignant and funny »
« Such a great show, well performed and so relevant"
“The play touched me with its message and the acting was remarkable; they knew how to make us laugh / shudder in horror at this cowardice, this coldness, this abuse of power. This news item around which the piece is centered makes you think about the monster of work, without heart or soul, that our world of work has become. A piece that captivates and invites us to question our conscience: how would we react in their place?
“A big thank you for this beautiful piece of theater.”
“I had a great time, the actors had great energy on stage, I remained captivated by the performance and role play of each actor. A beautiful production, well done.”
