This is where it starts to get dangerous: if we decide that AI entities that behave as if they are sentient and conscious and capable of feeling pain are in fact not sentient or conscious or capable of feeling pain, where will that end? If we start to believe that consciousness in machines isn’t real, how big a jump is it to start to believe that consciousness in other people isn’t real either?
