Baroques' are proud to present 'The Grand Finale: A ***r ’ on February 9th, 2022 at 7.30pm at in Highgate/Archway – feat. the , , , , , and Ian Peter | ✊🏾🇺🇦🇵🇸🏳️‍⚧️]!

Join us at for of our 1st annual QGSS as we take you back to a time when qu**rs were more visible & accepted than you thought.

The evening – taking inspiration from 's Ball (originally founded in 1780 by King George III as a celebration in honour of his wife, Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, after whom the ball is named) – will feature the legendary House of (founded by UK D'relle Dynasty) as it takes to the runway to showcase its unique talent and the legacy of Ballroom , with the one & only Lasana Shabazz as Queen Charlotte, the fabulous Ballroom Taboo co-hosting, and ‘Les Bougies Baroques’ playing both period music & contemporary repertoire on period instruments.

All you're required to do is leave vour preconceptions at the door & come as yourself – with or without bells on (although on particular occasion, dressing up is very much actively encouraged)!

is an artist from Kilburn. Her family history is rooted in India and she was born and raised in South Africa. Her father was an anti-apartheid activist and when Simmi was four, the family had to flee the country where they lived in exile in Europe.

Simmi trained as a painter who works with projected images. Her stories are about liberation.

Her art is underpinned by questions of migration, identity and home.

In addition to digging into the archives at Brent and other institutions to find overlooked or unknown histories of racial mixing in the area, we also invited Brent residents to explore and share their family archives with us.

Jade Ford is an artist originally from Acton with links to Brent who specialises in bespoke nail art for editorials, red carpet, TV/media and private clients.

When Jade went to school as a child, she remembers her mother wanting to encourage her to mix with other children from different backgrounds.

In addition to digging into the at Brent and other to find overlooked or of in the area, we also invited residents to explore and share their with us.

Kinga ✴️ Drawing ✴️ Painting ✴️ Murals] has always produced her own . She is interested in and people, feeling most comfortable painting the people around her.

The older she has grown, the more she has started to look at her differently. Original consists of two original paintings of Kinga’s mother and father which she then placed herself in front of to create a self-portrait alongside the two paintings of her parents.

The T-shirt comes from a local tattoo shop on of the same name
