Summer discoveries in the South of France ☀️

Located on the island of Porquerolles, is home to one of France’s leading private collections of contemporary art. The foundation is internationally recognised for the Carmignac Photojournalism Award, which supports long-form investigative reporting on human rights and global issues, making it a unique meeting point between contemporary art and documentary journalism.

This season, Villa Carmignac presents SEA, POP & SUN . The show brings together more than 80 works by Pop Art icons. These include Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, David Hockney and Judy Chicago, alongside contemporary artists exploring the enduring legacy of the Pop imagination through the Mediterranean, leisure culture and the spirit of summer. , in Mouans-Sartoux, was designed in 1964 by visionary architect Jacques . The organic “landscape house” has been transformed into an artists’ residency; here, architecture, sculpture and nature exist in constant dialogue. Its sculpture park features works by Antony Gormley, Tony Cragg, Claudia Comte and Alicja Kwade, while the residency programme welcomes leading international artists. A taste of summer: contemporary art in the South of France ☀️

A poetic dialogue between colour, structure and space, where lines become paths, and abstraction becomes an experience.

The Fondation CAB in Saint-Paul-de-Vence was established in 2021 by Belgian collector Hubert Bonnet to showcase minimal and conceptual art. Housed in a beautifully restored 1950s building redesigned by Charles Zana, it features a lush sculpture garden with stunning Mediterranean views. This unique cultural venue also offers immersive guest rooms, including a rare, storable house designed by modernist master .

Seated breakfast and private viewing of works by the Hormazd Narielwalla,

We have followed his projects for some years, and his collages and paper-cut works gracefully adorn the hotel’s suites, including the beautifully appointed suite dedicated to Oscar Wilde himself.

There’s something rather fitting about Narielwalla’s playful reimagining of pattern and form sitting alongside a nod to Wilde’s own wit and flamboyance 💚

Private visit before opening hours to the exhibition « Marilyn Monroe: a portrait » at the National Portrait Gallery. Brandei Estes, Curator of Photography, welcomed us.

The exhibition marks the actress’ centenary. Marilyn’s legacy is celebrated blending professional photography. Artworks are juxtaposed to personal belongings, beautifully contrasting the her public image with a more nuanced and intimate private dimension.

The airtist is a leading figure of post-war Japanese ceramic art and designated a Living National Treasure in 1985, 清水卯一公式アカウント redefined the vessel as a site of tension between fire, matter and control.

His works are currently on view at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in London.

His practice revolves around iron-rich glazes and celadon surfaces, where accident and precision coexist: cracked skins, deep metallic blacks, and luminous, almost suspended greens. Each work feels less “made” than revealed through firing as if the kiln itself were a collaborator.

Collected by major institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Brooklyn Museum, and the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, his work sits at the intersection of tradition and radical modernity.

A language of glaze, silence, and extreme refinement.
