Brownswood Remix Editions 010: SAMURAI Edits ⚡️

We’re proud to revisit a true cult classic from the early 2000s: Jazztronik’s “Samurai”.

Originally released in 2003, “Samurai” became a beloved record across the jazz, broken beat and dance music continuum, connecting Japan’s nu jazz movement with the bruk scene emerging from West London.

Now, more than two decades on, we’re rebooting this much-loved classic for a new generation of dancefloors. These new edits bring “Samurai” back into focus as a contemporary club record, while preserving the unmistakable energy that made the original so special.

Tomorrow night, Your Brother’s Keeper & Gary Bartz land at Church of Sound to launch their new album Where Rivers Meet.

At the centre of the album is Bartz, a saxophonist whose storied career has seen collaborations with Charles Mingus, Max Roach, Art Blakey and Miles Davis. A defining figure in spiritual jazz, his playing remains as vital and distinctive as ever. Where Rivers Meet also introduces Your Brother’s Keeper, a collective assembled by Jake Long, each one of them classic CoS names - Al MacSween, Axel Kaner-Lindstrom, Twm Dylan, Tim Doyle and Chelsea Carmichael.

In true CoS style, tomorrow’s show will represent an intergenerational musical display of the highest quality. Come, join us 🙏
