Thank you to all the participants of Diasporas Now x : MIXER at Institute of Contemporary Arts

This “speed dating”-style event matched artists with representatives from Youth Music and Arts Council England, offering a chance to pitch projects directly to funders with real-time feedback

A panel of musicians hinako omori GAIKA and RIEKO also offered insight on how to trailblaze unique, multidisciplinary careers – followed by DJ sets from Youth Music’s Michael Diamond

This gathering held space for intentional conversations on how to co-create music ecosystems that are truly diverse and community-centred

𝙎𝙥𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙁𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨 𝙭 𝘿𝙞𝙖𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙨 𝙉𝙤𝙬 artist talk series closed with a rare first-time conversation between artists and filmmakers John Akomfrah (Smoking Dogs Films) and Julianknxx (jυlιanĸnxх) at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Arts).

Moving between film, archive and lived experience, the conversation unfolded around memory, oral history and unique visual languages, sharing how both artists use moving images to tell powerful human stories that question the structures and systems we exist within. The discussion was chaired by Dominique Heyse-Moore (), Senior Curator of Contemporary British Art at Tate Britain.

Dancer, artist and body-focused researcher SERAFINE1369 () will present ‘Chorus (a fragment)’ for ’s artist takeover on 7/3 at .

A dancer’s art is built on an attitude of listening, with their whole being. You are a diviner and you cast your sticks and get no answer. You cast them again, but still no answer. Continuous oscillation without any resolution is what this process is all about. You don’t build on security. You risk. Everything is a risk. You use every part of anything you remember as part of the present, the now. The journey is the destination.
