We are very excited to announce that tickets are available for our production of the magnificent G. F. Handel’s pastoral opera ‘Acis and Galatea’, with performances at 8pm on the 9th and 10th June in the Anatomy Museum, King’s College London Strand Campus.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Spring and New Beginnings concert last week, you made the debut of the Strand Arts Collective Sinfonia all the more special. A huge congratulations to Shuang Wu, Lucy Peek, and Isobel Coughlan for their performances and to Ka Youn Yoo for the premiere of her wonderful piece. It was a special night that we will always remember!

🎶 OUR CONCERT IS TONIGHT! 🎶

Introducing: Shuang Wu, violin soloist

Born in Singapore, Shuang Wu started learning the violin at the age of three. As a soloist, she has performed with the NUS Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Johann Strauss String Ensemble, the Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra and The Orchestra of the Music Makers as the winner of the School of the Arts Singapore concerto competition. Prize winner of the 1st category of the 53rd Kocian Violin Competition, she has performed at many diverse venues including the Esplanade Concert Hall, Aspen’s Harris Concert Hall, Carnegie Mellon University’s Kristen Theatre. In the upcoming season, Shuang will be playing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the King’s College London Symphony Orchestra.

Introducing: Lucy Peek, Soprano

Lucy Peek is a 21-year-old Soprano studying for a BMus at King's College, London, where she is the Helen Hudson choral scholar. She previously studied singing at Chetham's School of Music and is now taught by Royal Academy of Music professor John Lattimore. Passionate about music societies, she has performed for King’s Big Band, Modern Music Society, and this summer will perform in a student production of Handel’s Acis and Galatea.

Introducing: Isobel Coughlan, Mallika in Delibes’ ‘The Flower Duet’

Isobel is a second-year undergrad studying music at King’s College London and is also a choral scholar with the KCL chapel choir. She has previously performed as a soloist in the London International Festival of Early Music, later broadcast on BBC Radio 3, and has recently played the role of the Governess in the King’s Opera production of ‘The Turn of the Screw’.

Introducing: Ka Youn Yoo, Composer of the new commission for the upcoming concert

Ka Youn is a South Korean composer, currently in her final year at King’s College London studing music composition. Her works have been played in numorous concert venues including Cadogan Hall and Royal Opera House in London, and the Ministry of Unification house in Korea. She has recently won KCLSO’s composition competition with her orchestral piece ‘Aydan’s Love Letter’, which will be played during KCLSO’s Prague tour this summer.

In anticipation of the Strand Arts Collective Sinfonia’s debut next Saturday, we thought we’d introduce some of the important members of the team.

Introducing: SACS Leader, Nick Bacon

Nick is a third-year music student at King’s College London. As an orchestral musician, he has successfully led various orchestras at Westminster School, South London Youth Orchestra, and NCO, and currently plays with KCLSO.

🎵 Our new orchestra, The Strand Arts Collective Sinfonia, is making it’s debut in the upcoming concert ‘Spring and New Beginnings’, in the King’s College London Chapel! 🎵

⚡️ SAVE THE DATE: Saturday 30th April (7pm)

🎉 Alongside performers Shuang Wu, Lucy Peek, and Isobel Coughlan, the ensemble’s artistic director Harry Pope will lead the Sinfonia in a programme evoking the current season and reflecting the debut of the orchestra itself. 🎉

With welcoming words from co-founder Jake Fletcher and repertoire ranging from the baroque to a new commission by Ka Youn Yoo, this promises to be an enjoyable night!
