The Lovers Whirlwind 1824-1827, is from the fifth canto of the Inferno, the first book of The Divine Comedy. The people caught in this whirlwind are screaming in agony, Dante, from the poem, stumbles across this whirlwind. Those stuck in this Whirlwind are lovers "whom love bereav'd of life.' They are facing the consequences of their sings of loving and desiring that that is wrong.

The Ghost of a Flea 1819-1820, is the ghost of a flea which is part man and part animal. He gazes into the empty bowl in his grasp as he paces back and forth on a stage. I used gold leaf to make the stars in the backdrop pop. This is macabre.
