‘Pareidolia’, a new photobook by Sarah van Rij and David van der Leeuw, is now available for pre-order via Note Note Éditions.
At the centre of the book is pareidolia - the psychological phenomenon of recognising familiar forms in otherwise ambiguous objects and surroundings. Sarah and David have shared this fascination for years, building an archive of photographs over the last decade. Found across streets, everyday objects and natural landscapes, the images reveal unexpected faces, figures and forms hidden in plain sight, brought together here for the first time.
‘Pareidolia’ will be released on 11 November, with a launch during Paris Photo at delpire & co. A London signing will follow on 26 November at Claire de Rouen Books, with a launch and talk at Foam in Amsterdam to follow.
