Listen In: How Radio Changed the Home, a new exhibition at , is now open!

Ever wondered about how the arrival of radio in the 1920s affected family life? Drawing on objects in the Bodleian’s archives, the exhibition looks at the period from 1922, when the BBC was founded and radio had 150,000 listeners, to 1939, as radio united households on the brink of war and its listenership reached 34 million.

Curated by , a BBC Radio producer for 35 years and now a freelance producer, presenter and writer, the exhibition also considers how we ‘listen in’ today with the boom in audio-on-demand and podcasts.

You can visit for free and find out more from now until 31 August!

We’re thrilled to announce that our campaign to promote the opening of Zeyrek Çinili Hamam, a historic 16th-century Ottoman bath in Istanbul, has been shortlisted for a Roxhill Media Award () in the Best PR Campaign: Travel category!

After an incredible 13-year restoration led by , this iconic hammam, originally commissioned by Barbarossa and designed by famed architect Mimar Sinan, has been brought back to life.

Built in the 1530s, during the peak of the Ottoman Empire, Zeyrek Çinili Hamam () had sadly fallen into disrepair. Through the dedication of the restoration team, it has now been revived, offering a luxurious bathing experience steeped in history. Zeyrek Çinili Hamam also features a museum exploring the building’s rich history and the traditions of the Ottoman hammam ritual.

We had the privilege of leading the national and international PR campaign for this extraordinary relaunch, securing over 350 pieces of coverage including major features in The New York Times, The Telegraph, The Guardian, Times Luxx, Wallpaper, Condé Nast Traveller, Elle, and many more. It even earned a spot in TIME Magazine’s World’s Greatest Places 2024! To date, approximately 80% of visitors to the hammam and its new website have been international.

The winners of the Roxhill Media Awards will be announced next week on 27 January - stay tuned!

Last week we attended NEMO’s European Museum Conference ‘Can we talk? Museums facing polarisation’ in Sibiu, Romania. The conference sought to address the vital role museums play in today’s challenged democracies.

During the conference it was good to be reminded of the central role museums have in shaping civic society, and we explored how museums can foster dialogue, promote understanding, unite communities and strengthen democracies.

Here are a few highlight images from an inspiring trip.
