Due to the high temperatures forecast this weekend, Barkmondsey Square have made the decision to scale back the outdoor activities at their event on Bermondsey Square on Saturday.

Pet welfare is our number one priority and therefore to keep everyone safe, the main outdoor stalls and activities have been cancelled.

Instead, the fun will be moved inside to The Arzner where it is safe, cool and air-conditioned. So come and join us from 11am until late for a Pride celebration! We will still be offering:

🐶 Dog cocktails and treats
🐶 Pet portraits by the London Dog Photographer, still available to book through the link in our bio, with goody bags from the Spotlight Groomers, Lisa the Pet Vet Sitter and Hide and Seek London
🐶 Dog-friendly cinema screening
🐶 Charity raffle supporting We Are Queerwell and Broken Biscuits Charity

Did you know that Bermondsey Square is built on the site of Bermondsey Abbey?

Founded in 1082, the Abbey was both an economic and spiritual powerhouse until it’s dissolution in 1537 by Henry VIII.

If you fancy seeing a bit of history, the remains of the south-western tower can be seen below the glass floor at Lokma Turkish Grill & Bar on Bermondsey Square, whilst nearby houses on Grange Walk incorporate some of the Abbey’s remains. If you take a walk around the square, you will also see our blue plaque, which was unveiled in 2010.

Shrek turns 25 🎂

This weekend, The Arzner Cinema are celebrating a very special anniversary with two screenings of Shrek. Dress up encouraged, but not an absolute necessity 💚

8:30pm, Saturday 16th May: adults-only screening (ticket holders must be 18 or older)
4:30pm, Sunday 17th May: general screening

On Sunday 19th July between 1pm and 6pm, a one-off special Jazz Day returns at Bermondsey Square. For the 9th year running, Stephen Pierre UMAT will be hosting incredible FREE live music and community vibes and will proudly support Pride in Southwark.

Inside ‘Between Here and Elsewhere’ by Amaal Said.

A film and photographic installation unfolding across our window gallery, tracing a mother and daughter’s journey through landscape, memory and belonging. Rooted in Said’s lived experience, the installation follows a Somali mother and daughter as they travel from London to Kent, tracing the complexities of identity and belonging for first- and second-generation migrants in the UK.

On view 24/7 at Forma, 15 Bermondsey Square until 7 June 2026.
