Kensington Chamber Orchestra

Kensington Chamber Orchestra KCO is one of London's leading amateur orchestras. We perform 4-5 concerts in West London every year.

Kensington Chamber Orchestra was established in 1936 as the Informal Chamber Orchestra, and is a registered charity, funded by members' subscriptions and ticket sales, and from time to time also raises money for other charitable causes. We provide opportunities for musicians to rehearse and perform a wide range of classical music to a high standard. We also offer a platform for young soloists to h

elp them establish their careers, and guest-slots to provide young conductors with valuable experience. Our focus is on serious amateur music making in a sociable and friendly environment. Many of the orchestra's players are keen chamber musicians, and a number make an annual trip to Prussia Cove near Penzance, home of the International Musicians Seminar, which provides an opportunity to play chamber music in a relaxing and beautiful environment.

The Serpent is a curious creature of wind instrument: trombone mouthpiece, but made of wood, with fingered or keyed tone holes. Mendelssohn was a fan, scoring it in the glorious, brass-rich chorals of his 5th Symphony, “The Reformation”.
And KCO are lucky enough to have one playing with us in our upcoming concert on Sat 7th March, St Peter’s Notting Hill.
Come and have a listen!

Dark evening, starting to feel cold and… Christmassy?

Lean into it in 3 weekend’s time, when KCO start December with our Family Christmas concert!
Gorgeous, hummable tunes, and singalong carols.
And a bit of cake I would have thought too…

3pm on Sat 6th, approx 1h duration, St James Islington, N1 8PF.

Do join us!
