Day 38

Today’s painting is of tulips from my sister.

There’s something other worldly about flowers given by another person. They carry the relationship with them.

In Kabbalah, today’s number is Tiferet within Yesod.

Beauty within connection.

Not just the beauty of the tulips themselves, but the beautiful feeling of connection flowers seem to transmit from one person to another.

Number 24

Today’s walk on Hampstead Heath.

Some paths are made by people walking them again and again, in roughly the same direction.

In Kabbalah, today’s number is Netzach within Netzach.

It isn’t just “keep going”.

It’s continuation that becomes shared structure.

Each step reinforces it, shifts it, or edges it somewhere new.

Even when it feels like our actions don’t matter, maybe we just can’t see the path being made.

And when it feels like we’re just walking, what if we’re following paths hidden guides have already shaped?

I was trying to paint my sister and brother-in-law by the sea, but she moved.

So what’s left is not really a portrait, but a trace of the moment.

And somehow that feels right for this Omer journey.

Forty-five days to go, and I’m learning that some of the most beautiful things can’t be held still.

They shift, they move, they pass.

All we can do is notice them while they are here.

Sometimes I miss Africa in a way that hits low in the chest.

Not just the place itself
but the feeling of it.
The warmth.
The stillness.
The sense that life moves at the pace of breath and dust and sun.

This piece was born from that longing - all those colours that aren’t really colours… ochre, smoke, earth, memory.
It’s the way the air felt first thing in the morning, before the heat rose.
It’s the sound of nothing and everything at once.

If you connect to art like this, maybe it brings back a place you didn’t realise you’d been missing.

You shared such awesome ideas for what to do with this opal shade ceramic vase that came out with a few holes in it
suggested putting a narrower vase inside
suggested using artificial or dry flowers
suggested spraying the inside with an epoxy seal (I didn't have that so I made this image with AI)

Which do you prefer?
