I’m currently working at Hampton Court Palace on the restoration of one of the famous “beast” pedestals. When we first removed the beast from the pedestal to repair the damaged stone, we found a little time capsule from the previous restoration team: a coin from 1949. We’re continuing this tradition for future generations and replacing it with a brand new King Charles 50p coin before returning the beast to his pedestal.

Another sweet testimony from Norway.

“When my father passed away last year, he had requested that his ashes be scattered by the lake where his mother grew up, and they later built our family cabin.

Hence we jumped at the chance to commemorate granddad, grandma and dad with a caving in the bedrock by the lakefront of the property.

The process with Stonemason Ville felt very involved, from choosing the best location for the carvings, style, and drawing up the letters.

We revealed the carving work with a lovely private ash scattering ceremony by the lake.

Lovely testimony from client in Norway.

“My husband and his parents built our family cabin back in 1957, and we thought that the perfect way to commemorate this was to embed it solidly into the bedrock on the lakefront of the property.

Ville ensured a very personable process, involving us every step of the way, from the choice of technique and font, to the handwritten letters, and my 4 year old grandson even got to try his hand at stonemasonry.

The whole family is very pleased with the result, and we have had several visitors come to admire the carvings.

I had a great week working in Norway at a client’s summer cabin. I was commissioned to carve a memorial stone in honour of my client’s father. Norwegian grey granite is extremely hard but with time and patience, the letters - handwritten by my client to make it more personal - came out very well and created a touching and long-lasting way to remember a loved one. I even had a little helper 😊
