My last task at The Culture Story, taking down all our light fixtures from the tracks It doesnt feel so long ago, when I bought that ladder and collected all the lights from the physical shop... going up and down, eagerly planning the next exhibition/talk.
The closing weekend was the best way to say goodbye to this 9-year chapter. We hosted and embraced many familiar faces - artists, collectors, supporters, colleagues, family friends, expresses... and still to this day, some new faces (!), who expressed support for our vision, how differentiated our programmes were, and the networking opportunities amongst like-minded and new acquaintances. I think the closure is more acutely felt by the artists, many of them we've supported along the years by way of patronage, exhibition-making, advocacy and promotion.
Thank you for Dad for championing our little project and coming round to the idea that we are ready to move on and try new things. Thank you (and Mum) for believing in me and supporting all my crazy ideas! From Wong Keen's flesh matters project with Artcommune in 2018... to Futura's residency and solo exhibition in 2019... to starting FOFA in 2022... and producing Artist's Proof in 2025.
All I can say is, The Culture Story is still here, Dad and I will be around. Chapter 2.0 is starting to take shape but we'll tweak along the way, and most importantly have fun! If you have any ideas or projects for collaboration, we are always happy to explore!
Thank you TCS for giving me this platform to express my ideas & creativity.... stretching my abilities as a project manager, leader and to some extent a cultural producer. Everything I've done so far has been iterative, doing more, doing slightly differently/ better, improve.. improvise, move on. I've grown so much since TCS was conceived in 2017 and I can't wait for the next 10 years 🙏🏻❤️
