Studio 17 | Barnes Artists Open Studios

Our final stop on the Barnes Artists Open Studios trail is Studio 17, where painters Sarah Langman and Elizabeth Ford share a passion for capturing the world through oil paint.

Working across landscapes, still life and portraiture, both artists bring their own distinctive vision to traditional subjects. From the subtle play of light across a landscape to the character and presence of a portrait, their work celebrates observation, craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of oil painting.

Meet the artists, discover original work, and enjoy the final studio on this year’s Barnes Artists Open Studios trail.

Studio 15 | Barnes Artists Open Studios

Barnes Artists Open Studios presents KITASHI, the artistic identity of Kit Stokoe, whose distinctive practice spans large-scale canvases, wooden sculptures, painted tins, and collectible pillows.

Working across multiple formats, KITASHI creates a unified body of work that blurs the boundaries between fine art, object, and design. Bold, playful, and highly collectible, each piece contributes to a wider visual world that invites viewers to engage with art as part of everyday life.

Studio 14 | The Climate Change Studio | Barnes Artists Open Studios

This year’s Barnes Artists Open Studios features more than 36 artists across 16 venues, and Studio 14 at the Vine Road Pavilion brings together four artists responding to one of the most urgent issues of our time: climate change.

Derek Pearce is delighted to be exhibiting in the Pavilion at Vine Road Recreation Ground on 6–7 June, the home of Barnes Common Limited, whose important conservation work helps protect Barnes Common and the Leg O’ Mutton Reservoir. Alongside his visual work, Derek has also created a climate-themed music project, We’re in a Jam (Wot’s the Plan?), available on Spotify.

Joining Derek are Sara Vertigan, whose evocative oil landscapes use a traditional grisaille underpainting technique, Belinda Shaw, whose mixed-media collages combine textiles, stitch and abstract imagery, and Spike McLarrity, whose live performance work with Derek explores themes of waste, consumption and environmental responsibility through movement and plastic materials.

Together, their work offers a powerful and thought-provoking conversation about our relationship with the natural world through sculpture, painting, collage, performance and music.

Step into a world inspired by nature, gardens and the beauty of the everyday at Studio 13.

Painter Pookie Blezard draws inspiration from the changing seasons and natural rhythms of her garden, creating vibrant works that celebrate colour, growth and the landscape around her.

Illustrator and printmaker Sophia Bloxham brings the natural world to life through her decorative botanical linocuts, alongside her beautifully observed watercolour and ink pet portraits, each full of character and charm.

Completing the trio, Judith Dobie is a mixed-media artist and illustrator whose current collage landscapes explore place, memory and texture through layered compositions.

Together, these three artists offer a rich and varied celebration of nature through painting, printmaking, illustration and collage.

Come and meet the artists, discover original work, and enjoy a creative weekend at Barnes Artists Open Studios.

Studio 12 | Barnes Artists Open Studios

This coming weekend, discover two artists united by a love of abstraction, material and colour.

Nichola de Klee creates powerful abstract sculptures in stone, revealing the natural beauty, strength and character of her chosen material. Her work balances form and texture, inviting viewers to experience stone in new and unexpected ways.

Alongside her, Annie Mitra presents paintings inspired by the many moods and meanings of blue. Through layered colour, movement and atmosphere, her work explores emotion, memory and the evocative power of a single hue.

Together, their practices create a fascinating dialogue between sculpture and painting, solidity and fluidity, form and colour.

Visit Studio12 during Barnes Artists Open Studios to meet the artists, explore their latest work, and enjoy a unique creative experience.
