When AV overperforms, It's invisible. The event just feels effortless, and no one questions why.

Here's what most people don't realize:
The problems that show up during your event were usually created weeks or months earlier, long before we rolled a single case into the venue.

By the time we're on-site, the production team has inherited decisions that were made without them in the room.

Great events don't happen because your AV team is good at putting out fires, or rolling with the punches.

They happen because AV was part of the conversation early, when those fires could still have been prevented.

Our Chief Engineer just saw some wireless In-Ear Monitors for sale on FB Marketplace, for £100. For a set of 4, that seemed like a proper bargain. Curious as to the specs of these devices, a google search revealed that they are in fact a current product being sold by Amazon. Unfortunately, he then noticed that the carrier frequencies used by these things is actually from 550-580 MHz, or Channels 31-37, here in the UK. This makes them ILLEGAL FOR USE IN THE UK!

All radio microphones and IEMs used in the UK can only use the following transmission frequencies:

863-865 MHz (Channel 70)
822-830 MHz (channel 65)
606-614 MHz (channel 38)

The use of any equipment not operating within frequencies, has the potential to attract an unlimited fine and/or up to 3 months imprisonment!

Here is an excerpt from Amazon’s policy documents:

Imported Goods:
Products may be sourced from outside the UK/EEA (parallel imports) that do not meet UK safety, certification (CE/UKCA), or electrical standards.

Policy Gaps:
Some items, while illegal to use in the UK (e.g., certain RF transmitters or radio equipment), may not be technically illegal to sell, creating a loophole in enforcement.

As the saying goes, If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Happy new year to all our followers!

As we kick off 2026, we’re adding to our hire stock again, with another digital stage box. When used in conjunction with our 50 meter, tour grade, CAT5e cable, our existing digital stage box and X32 digital mixer, this will enable us to field a 32 channel input, 16 channel output, digital mixing solution for large spaces. Pair this setup with our 12 speaker big rig and you have a system that could easily handle a full live band in venues seating up to 500!!
