Inside the studio — throwing a plate. A small detail that makes a big difference.
I place a sheet of paper on the wooden bat while throwing.
The paper prevents water from soaking into the wood, and when the plate reaches leather-hard stage the next day, it simply slides off — separating cleanly from both the bat and the plate.
To achieve a perfectly even surface, I gently press the centre with an 8 cm cylinder, creating a completely flat base.
Small techniques developed over many years at the wheel.
