🏆 PANEL DISCUSSION | A CONVERSATION WITH THE JUDGES
Art · Technique · Music · Style
What are judges really looking for when a couple steps onto the competition floor?
Before the Ambassador’s Tango Cup begins, we invite all participants to join our judging panel for a special one-hour conversation exploring the principles behind judging Argentine Tango.
This is not a class or a lecture. It is an open conversation about the elements that shape a judge’s decision: technique, musicality, style, connection, interpretation and the identity of the couple.
Our seven judges will share their perspectives and discuss the criteria they consider when evaluating a performance — from technical quality and partnership to musical interpretation and the individual character that makes a couple stand out.
For competitors, this is a particularly valuable opportunity.
Understanding how judges observe a couple can help you step onto the floor with greater clarity. Rather than trying to guess what a judge “wants to see”, you will hear directly from the panel about the qualities they value and the principles that will guide their judging throughout the competition.
It is also an opportunity to understand something essential: there is rarely only one way to dance tango beautifully.
Seven experienced judges may see the same couple from different perspectives. This conversation is about discovering where those perspectives meet.
Come, listen, ask questions and discover the thinking behind the scores before the competition begins.
