Chaos? at the NLT Contemporary happenings and other sounds. This page holds documentation of the events. The focus is on experimental approach and process.

A monthly experimental music series hosted by Audrey Riley, held upstairs at the North London Tavern in Kilburn, London. Each last Thursday of the month this year Audrey Riley invites a guest to lead a performance set of experimental music upstairs at the North London tavern. The events are diverse - solo cello, electronics, text, cut-up scores, experimental works, jazz. Each event ends with an open invitation to join (or not) a structured improvisation - All Are Welcome. The series is an experiment. The intention is simply to create a situation in which to share work and sounds and to see what happens.

With many apologies for such an elongated silence. I'm very sad that there hasn't been a Chaos? event since last November. The series has been going through some adjustments. But it will return! It is definitely not over. We're quietly making plans and hope to announce events soon.

In the meantime, you may be interested in a performance taking place this Saturday (6th June) in Chiswick. A 17 piece ensemble, including 6 guitars, cello and violin, basses, percussion and keys giving a performance of a rarely heard Gavin Bryars work, Burroughs. Gavin will be there and will also be playing. It will probably be a one off, and will definitely be very special. So do come and join us.

Sadly, due to ill health and a desire not to spread the current flu bug, this event on 26.11 has been cancelled. We will re-schedule for another Wednesday and announce soon.

Join us for Chaos? this week at the NLT in Kilburn. This month's edition features Jake Williams in an electronic DJ set, electric violinist Tansy Spink, and David Arrowsmith (guitar) as guests. There will be solos, duos, trios, and Audrey will join on electric cello.

The customary All Are Welcome informal, structured improvisation will end the evening. Bring a sound and join!
