London people !! We are making a weird and wonderful float to represent Gerry’s Pompeii in a magic floating festival in Hythe (near Folkestone) — before we head to Hythe we’re holding two making workshops and we need your help! We have a fabulous group of volunteers assembled and just need a few more for max impact ! On Monday 10th and Monday 17th we will be papier mache-ing, painting, sticking, prop making. No experience needed just show up and bring your imaginations. (Address tbc but west London ~ 10-6pm). If you are based near Hythe we are also making from there from Monday so also DM to join the squad

Save Gerry’s Pompeii are very excited to be one of the 12 cultural spots on the Natural Way’s Pilgrimage walk around North Paddington, a fabulous (and P.E.A Climate award-winning) initiative by Lola of Paddington Development Trust ~ find our special lockbox on installed kindly by the fabulous head gardener of Meanwhile Gardens Community Association 🦆 Hermione on the steps from where you can glimpse Save Gerry’s Pompeii from across the canal. Use the stamp designed by local children on the Gerry’s Pompeii spot on your Pilgrim’s Passport to help complete your Pilgrimage! Tomorrow (Thursday 23rd July) there is a specially funded Summer celebration of the walk you can join where Maisie will be giving tours of Gerry’s Pompeii via a special Gerry Ferry kayak (from the London Sports Trust ) for those on the Pilgrimage. To join please sign up for free via the eventbrite (link in bio). The tour starts at 10.30am at Paddington’s children’s library where you can pick up your Pilgrim’s Passport and start collecting stamps along the route ~ arriving at Gerry’s between 12-2.30pm with a picnic after at Meanwhile Gardens before continuing your walk! **SCHOOLS KAYAK TRIP TO GERRY’S OPPORTUNITY** We have one upcoming funded local schools’ trip on Monday 29th June for up to 30 children available. If you are a local school to W9 please get in touch, preferably Primary Years 5 or 6. Recently we have been partnering with the London Sports Trust who enable children access to the water. Here is a short clip of a film (by Jack Taylor Gotch) and images (by Teddy Cavendish) of some of our recent tours with local children from Queens Park Primary School. The children seemed to really connect with Gerry’s work. They couldn’t believe it had all been made by one man. If you are a school local to Gerry’s Pompeii and are interested in visiting please let us know and you can join our list ready for when we start making our boat trips more regular from spring next year. We are currently working with a broad range of children, educators and art mediators (including ) to help develop special treasure hunts, navigating and discovering some of the historical figures whom Gerry created and memorialised in his garden ~ if you know a local west London state school who would like to participate in developing this interactive education kit please get in touch [email protected] TreasureHunt
