Can we talk about dead flowers?

I know there are those of you (you know who you are 😏) who throw a flower out at the first sign of a wilt, the whisper of droop or the sigh of a stem.

Now on two counts, at the very least, I strongly object.

Firstly, is there anything more intriguing than a decaying yet decadent flower, tinged with the weight of history, dappled with faded, elegant hints of colour?

From a seedling to a bloom, from ground to vase. It’s travelled, it’s seen things, it knows stuff. It carries the wisdom of the earth amongst its folds.

I think, and maybe this is just me , there’s a beauty in that. A remembering of what once was, but a firm statement of what still is. A creative, artistic, almost indefinable pure beauty that screams of interest and historical wisdom.

This leads me to my second point!

As a bona fide crone, as someone always searching for the wild and wise woman inside of me, I object to the notion that beauty, meaning, purpose and usefulness, decline with age.

Instead, I look in wonder and awe at the ravaged, worn, scarred, tired yet tenacious, defiant and audacious, flowers and women, and think ‘damn, you made it’.

So, next time you’re going to diminish a thing of beauty by overlooking its value, stop right there.

Think again 💐🤌🏼

‘I have a heart and I’m not afraid to use it’

Are you marching to the beat of your own fierce drum?

Do look around you and feel angry at what you see going on in the world. Do you question what you can do to change things. Do you feel like you scream into the abyss at the atrocities, the treatment of women, the corrupt governments, the poor leaders.

This ⬆️

Use your heart, use your voice, use your wise, wild soul….as often as you can, wherever you can, however you can.

You are WOMAN 💚

You can do astonishing things 🪬

This original mixed media work on canvas was created intuitively and is layered with emotion, hidden words and meaningful messages. What do you feel when you really look at it?

This original work is available for £1400. If you don’t have the space, but would still love to own it, it’s also available as hand finished giclee prints, in a range of sizes and starting at just £40

Still in my ‘I’ve got grit’ era……(it’s a long one🤣)

If you’re working, side hustling, side hustling your side hustle, caring for kids/parents/both, keeping milk in the fridge and booking the doctors appointments, going to college to “add to your skill set”, trying to find a date to see your actual friends, the only one in the house who knows where ‘that charger went’, thinking about Christmas and panicking already, and also thinking about next year’s holiday, and also thinking that we might not have a world by then because it’s being run being by f*cking crazy men - don’t worry - I got you 🙌🏽☹️

Come and sit in my studio tomorrow and just paint sh*t. Trust me, the world outside that room, simply doesn’t exist 👩🏻‍🎨
