“What a wonderful way to spend my break time!”

Today we had a brilliant workshop with the V&A, who brought along 3D replicas of some of their incredible sculptures for us to get creative with and make our very own prints.

It was such a lovely opportunity to pause, create and try something completely different.

And the feedback says it all:

Music Session 7pm TONIGHT!
It’s Thursday: it’s time for music and mirth! Well, definitely music. I’ll be here on Facebook at 7.15pm this evening, playing my violin and interacting, LIVE, with you! Yes, YOU can communicate via the internet by writing messages, LIVE, as the session happens! Mind blowing stuff. That means you can request music, say virtual hellos to fellow session goers, and generally get involved. OR, feel free to sit back and let the music wash over you. Your choice! 🎻💙 Celebrating our resident musician, Adrian

We recently received this wonderful recognition for Adrian from a Senior Staff Nurse in the Harefield Hospital ITU/Critical Care team, and we wanted to share it with you.

“Over the years, I have noticed that Adrian brings something truly special to our ITU through his gift of playing the violin for patients and their families. His music provides moments of peace, comfort and reassurance during what can be an incredibly stressful and emotional time.

It helps create a calmer environment for patients, supports their wellbeing and recovery, and offers families a sense of comfort and connection.

Adrian’s compassion, generosity and willingness to share his talent with those who need it most is a beautiful example of going above and beyond for our patients and their families.

Many of us staff look forward to Tuesday afternoons because of Adrian’s ‘music round’ in the ITU!”

The Art of Us brings together artworks by Donna Morris & Ryan Prince, alongside portarits created by our hospital community through our Crafternoon workshops.

Donna Morris was a long-term patient at Royal Brompton before receiving a double lung transplant at Harefield Hospital in 2018. Since then, she has left a career in marketing to pursue her passion for art. Both hospitals hold a special place in her heart so she was delighted to spend a week as Artist in Residence at Harefield earlier this year.
Meeting staff, volunteers and patients she explored the hospital community through drawing, painting and conversation. The work in this exhibition was inspired by these encounters, reflecting the people, stories and everyday moments that make these hospitals such special places.

Ryan Prince is a London-based documentary and portrait photographer whose work interrogates representation, identity and family narratives. Drawing on his own experience as a Black British man from the Jamaican diaspora his photography challenges stereotypes and reframes the ways Black communities are seen. Ryan’s images often centre on familial intimacy and everyday moments, offering a nuanced, affirmative counterpoint to dominant visual narratives.
The artworks in this exhibition are a collection of informal portraits created by Ryan during his visits to our hospitals, offering a glimpse into the people who make up our hospital community

It’s Thursday again! Where does the time go? No answer needed.. So, time for me to dust off the old violin and crank up some tunes. Tunes of your choice! Ah, the excitement! What will they be? Tune in at 7.15pm to find out! I’ll be here; you’ll be there, wherever that may be. Crucially we’ll be together via the mysterious and magical world of the internet.
