Some 35mm film stock that's even older than last show's 1936 medium format cameras: Eastman No. 10 Super Sensitive Panchromatic Film. Made in the 1930s, this film STOCK won an academy award in 1931.

The problem is, being Nitrate film it's highly flammable, prone to off-gassing horrendous toxic fumes, can actually self combust if not looked after and once alight, can't easily be put out because it contains its own oxidiser. (Last pic is the film burning in water).

So I ran a bunch through a period-appropriate Zeiss-Ikon Medium Format camera with a 35mm adapter.

Results? I got 'em!

One minute exposure on highly flammable and potentially toxic 90 year old Nitrate film. It was shot on a Zeiss-Ikon medium format camera with 35mm adapter. Stand developed in 1+100 23C Rodinal for an hour. No agitations resulted in these stripes which look a bit like flames, befitting the notorious Nitrate film and its record of burning down cinemas. Let's see what Caffenol does to it!

At last the premiere of my Straight 8 2026 film 'Eighty: Dreams of a data centre' and the whole long convoluted making-of story. I threw out the rulebook when I made this one, and it bounced back and hit me hard.

We go double-wide and have a go with some 16mm black and white reversal and colour negative, shooting in a Bolex H16, a Krasnogorsk K3 and (if we can get it to work) a 16mm cartridge camera.

For a change we do some stills film and mess around with a couple of 120 AKA Medium Format films, along with a review of a scanning device. I try my hand at developing Medium Format in a Paterson tank.

Shooting and developing Ektachrome 160 only 44 years past its expiry date. I used a cobbled together colour reversal process that I could probably never repeat, but results came out surprisingly OK.

ZANTROX AND STOCKBROKER a film I made with Marcus Wilding, Peter Waldeck and Paul Elliott has got the silent treatment in the best way: a screening at the amazing .filmfestival 17-18 October.

Telling the story of an old childhood friend who turns up unannounced in the life of a high flying Stockbroker (Marcus Wilding) but after a disastrous afternoon's attempt at re-kindling the old magic, they part ways once again. Originally part of the 'Jim and Heinz' canon and told in over 100 still images, the original 2009 film has been specially re-cut in a dialogue-free version for this very special event. Thanks to for giving this film a new medium!

Looks like time's up for 2026 entries. The die is cast! myself and who knows how many others wait and wonder how it will all come out ... BTW how good does it feel to see that Exposed tab and know it's all finally over?
