10 years ago, almost to the day, I sang my first Silvio in an awesome production of I Pagliacci by Paul Curran at the Royal Danish Theatre, with the wonderful Kristin Lewis as Nedda and the great Joana Mallwitz conducting. Here's a little clip from the duet scene. Needless to say, I absolutely LOVE that role! 🥰

The cat is finally out of the bag! I'm joining the ensemble in Oslo for a year's time, and in the upcoming season I'm singing two roles I'm incredibly excited about, Forester in The Cunning Little V***n and Germont in La Traviata. Woohoo! 🎉 An update on other roles for the coming season will follow.

As Christmas time approaches and the stress levels tend to rise in the final stages of preparation I thought I'd share another (hopefully) soothing clip from NRK's Christmas concert 10 years ago, where I got the chance to sing one of my all time favourite songs, O helga natt. It's essentially Cantique de Noël by A. Adam, but with a Swedish text, made immortal in Scandinavia by Jussi Björling. I hope it will serve its purpose. 🥰

This song might not say a lot to non-Norwegians, but to me, and many Norwegians (especially us from the Northern parts), Nordnorsk Julesalme by Trygve Hoff (Northern Norwegian Christmas Psalm) is one of the songs defining our Christmas and reminds us to be humble and grateful about coming from the Arctic. Recorded in December 2013 with Kringkastingsorkestret (KORK) in Lommedalen Church, conductor: Miguel Harth-Bedoya.

CALL FOR AUDITONS to The Wilhelmsen Opera Studio for Young Singers (WOYS) at The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet.

The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Talent Norway and Shipowner Tom Wilhelmsen’s Foundation are launching a new opera studio for young singers who have recently completed their opera education and are on the threshold of a professional career. WOYS is founded and artistically managed by Opera Director Randi Stene.

Every second year WOYS will recruit 4–6 singers who will be full-time salaried employees with the Norwegian National Opera for two seasons. Age limit of singers entering the studio is 32 years.
