Spin Master is screening on-demand reruns of its “Bakugan Battle Planet” anime series on Roblox over the next five months, per a press release.
Starting Aug. 5, fans can revisit the show within an existing Bakugan Battle League space on the online gaming platform. Four to six episodes drop each week, with features that allow players to toggle between their usual gameplay and streaming content.
Spin Master previously experimented with in-game viewing by premiering an episode of “Bakugan” on Roblox last year, and said it’s now looking to evolve its metaverse strategy. The experiment shows a convergence of streaming and gaming tactics that could resonate with the Gen Z and Gen Alpha crowd.

IHG Hotel & Resorts launched a campaign that illustrates the comforts of staying at its hotels as well as a revamped loyalty program, per an announcement. The work went live in the U.S. and U.K. on Aug. 3 and will roll out globally later this year.
The multimillion-dollar “Guest How You Guest” campaign represents the largest media investment from the InterContinental owner in a decade, per a spokesperson. The effort promotes a reimagined loyalty platform, IHG One Rewards, that unifies the hospitality chain’s 17 brands and more than 6,000 hotels.
Creative appears across online, TV, print and out-of-home channels, including billboards, murals and subway stations. IHG joins a rush of hospitality companies kickstarting ambitious marketing plays to capitalize on the strong rebound in travel.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced that it plans to combine HBO Max and Discovery+ into a combined streaming offering under a single brand beginning in the U.S. next summer, per the company’s first full earnings call since the two companies merged this year.
In addition to its subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service, the company is exploring making some of its library available on a free, ad-supported TV (FAST) platform, per the call. Details on all streaming offerings is expected at the company’s Investor Day, planned for later this year.
Warner Bros. Discovery’s combined platform and possible FAST service are expected to further complicate a streaming landscape that has seen major players make plans for ad-supported tiers. The subscriber base for HBO Max and Discovery+ is 92.1 million, up 1.7 million over the first quarter, per the company’s earnings report.

At the 2022-2023 Upfronts, 85% of networks and advertisers increased their use of or investment in a number of measurement providers, according to the findings of a newly released survey by the VAB Measurement Innovation Task Force.
Over one-quarter of respondents said that 25% to 49% of their Upfront advertisers will actively use or test a measurement option other than Nielsen, with 175 advertisers engaged with TV publishers in the use or testing of new measurement solutions.
While the survey shows that the ad marketplace is embracing new measurement options other than Nielsen, there is not yet widespread adoption of an alternative currency or measurement solution. The survey findings represent 90% of the TV ad revenue market, including major TV publishers and majority of single networks.

Walmart recently met with executives from Disney, Comcast and Paramount about how streaming content might boost its Walmart+ membership program, The New York Times first reported.
The Times said it is unclear whether any of the streaming providers are eager to strike a deal. Walmart views the addition of the right selection of content as a potentially important value-add for customers.
Walmart+, which launched in September 2020, costs $12.95 per month and currently offers perks like free shipping and a six-month trial of Spotify’s premium tier. But it’s missing a noteworthy stake in streaming media, an area that has bolstered chief rival Amazon.

Budweiser scattered hundreds of prize boxes in major cities for soccer fans to discover as part of its sponsorship as the official beer of the FIFA World Cup, according to a news release. The campaign is not running in the U.S.
The scavenger hunt promotion, which kicks off Aug. 13, marks 100 days until the global soccer event. The prize boxes contain signed memorabilia, access to a year’s supply of beer and tickets to the tournament.
Earlier this week, Budweiser and athlete partners teased QR codes on their social media accounts to pique fan curiosity. Scanning the codes reveals coordinates leading to the prize boxes, layering in a mobile aspect to the push.
