Back to the studio.
I have been busy on other things recently so it’s good to be back in making mode, especially in a studio that is quite cool on such a hot day.
This is the way the figures start - paper straws and kitchen roll support the messy first clay stages.

A rather lovely trip to drop off work today.
Something new this year, delighted for my work to be part of Sculpture at Beaulieu this summer.

There are over 150 works from 47 sculptors in this amazing location. Mine can be found in Palace House, and there will also be a trail from the Victorian flower garden. I walked down a path flanked by gorgeous roses, their scent was incredible.

The event runs from June 13th - September 14th. I had some tantalising glimpses of the other work so I’m very much looking forward to seeing it all when the installation is complete.

Just dropped The Girls off at in lovely Steyning.

Steyning Art Trail offers so much to see, with the added bonus of tea and cake..
….The garden at Old Timbers is a beautiful place for tea!

Saturday at CAL
Bad Cherubs and Bad Girls were very much enjoying the visitors in their own way.
I feel like I hand over to them for the event - they have the attitude, and not many manners.

So many conversations, so many interesting people, so different to the usual quiet studio days.
I’m hoping the croaky voice will improve by tomorrow ready for the TALK I am part of tomorrow morning with the three amazing figurative sculptors and generally wonderful people; Sally,Sharon and Alison.
Some tickets can still be bought online and on the door - so do come along to Olympia tomorrow!
Plus there’s so so much to see - it never ceases to amaze me what can be made out of mud.

Well, I’m tired now!
What a busy first day
It was great to talk to so many lovely visitors.
This Pensive piece has found a new home - thanks to all who came along. Still some tickets I think over the weekend if you’re quick!
I was so busy talking of course I have forgotten to take more photos around the show - must try to remember tomorrow.

I had a really grand day out yesterday at Potfest, Glynde place near Lewes!
As I’m travelling today I couldn’t apply to take part as an exhibitor this year, so it was a treat to see everything from the other side of the stand and to reconnect with the pottery family.

I was so busy looking (and talking) that I didn’t take many photos, so this is a sample of some of the fantastic work from brilliant makers.
A beautiful place and lots to see, plus demos.
Open today and tomorrow
Well worth a day out!

Back to my pottery roots …

Lovely day with the teaching a figure making workshop.
Mingling with clay-minded people, local friends and enthusiasts.
Including the amazing my marvellous teacher a few tears ago - so no pressure. 😳

It’s always so interesting to see all the different directions a group of people will take in making a figure.
It’s about technical tips for making - but then also the stance, attitude, mood, proportions - so many variables.

And they had to get busy, as this time clothes, hair, faces, solid base so they stand in the kiln - all were covered.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the results as the participants get their figures finished and fired!

(And importantly there was a lovely lunch!)
