Sam Miller’s dolls comprise lost, found, vintage and antique elements and reflect many of the craft skills traditional to acceptable female expressions, stitching, knitting, patchwork etc.
Dolls are objects onto which projections are cast. Holding both idealised and despised contents of the viewer’s unconscious conditioning. Some find them comforting, others, disturbing. They serve as facsimiles of acceptable female characteristics or the distorted ciphers we reject.

Discover Sam Miller’s dolls at Craftworks this May!

Craftworks secures the future of craft.

British crafts like Blacksmithing, Woodturning, Glass Blowing and Weaving, reflect centuries of tradition and local identity, from Scottish tweed to Cotswold stonework. These crafts attract global admiration, contribute to UK culture, and offer sustainable, one-of-a-kind pieces as a responsible alternative to mass-produced goods. Supporting these crafts helps preserve valuable skills, strengthens community pride, and boosts the creative sector. By investing in craft, the UK can secure this vibrant heritage, creating meaningful work and ensuring traditional skills thrive for generations to come.
