The piece of Ash used to make this bowl, back in late summer, was from the crown of the tree and this has resulted in some beautiful markings.

Time flies
Packing to move flat is never a task I enjoy. So I wasn’t looking forward to when I had to pack up my own Studio TUT clock. Although it’s exciting to know it will soon have a new spot in my new place. Isn’t it incredible to think about how many times you look at and use something like a clock or a lamp and all the rooms and houses they move to and frequent with you throughout your life. These are the things you should really love.

An Ash reading lamp for a nursery. The shorter form and heavier base was designed for stability so that it wouldn’t easily be knocked over by little ones. Ash is a lovely warm and light wood with stunning grain which only richens over time. I’m sure it will make a beautiful addition to the nursery.

Happy New Year! More exciting projects coming are coming in the new year to Studio TUT
For now here’s a lamp I made late last year, using some fallen eucalyptus. Even after seasoning the high water content made it an unstable timber to work with. Nevertheless with a habit of twisting the grain and markings have made for a stunningly unique lamp.
