A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM THE OWNER 🥳
"Hi All!
Thank you for joining the group!
I’ve Just realised I’ve never introduced myself properly on here, so for any mums/dads interested in a kids entertainer’s backstory, here goes!
My Names Sam & I am from London.
Growing up, I always had a passion for drama and acting. As a child, I loved starring in my school plays and going to after school clubs to hone my skills. I owe it all to my father, spurring me on and making sure I followed the path I wanted to reach my dreams. To this day, I’m still actively in the industry waiting for my big break. But we’ll get to that in a second, as I’d like to share my story with you…
I was determined to pursue my dreams and fortunately got into one of the best Drama Schools in the country at 18 years old, the youngest in my class. 3 tiresome and dedicated years as I was set on honing my craft and making my dream reality. It was great, however I needed money to get through & pay for bills, tuition, rent etc. so I began to work as a kids entertainer every Saturday and Sunday. 8am-6pm Monday to Friday for drama school - 9am-7 on my weekends. There was no room for rest, however I saw the bigger picture.
In my head I had it all planned out, train as an actor - get signed by a great agency and go live back at home with my dad once the mission was over. Pretty ambitious, but once I set my mind to it there was no going back.
I pretty much did it! By the time I was in my final year, I had nearly 30 of the biggest acting agents in the UK asking for me, I felt on top of the world. Seeing my dad in the audience at my final year play was one of the greatest feelings I ever had. It was a real “look at me now” moment, I only ever wanted him to be proud, which he always made sure to know he was of me.
All my work seemed to be paying off. The building blocks of my pyramid seemed to finally be finished.
Apart from the most important block of all My father.
When you see my father, you see me. If it weren’t for him, I would not be as far as I am right now. He’s my best-friend, mentor and father all in one. I could not ask for better.
January 9th of 2018, my father was in a horrible car accident that caused him to lose his leg on impact, this was during my period auditioning for drama school, somehow I still got in. I think seeing his strength to go through such a tragic ordeal was enough to make me not find any excuse to strive harder for what I wanted.
Cut to my final year of uni,
January 21st 2021 : My father suddenly passes away from COVID-19.
….
It felt like all the joy, positivity and love in my life had been stolen from me. Like the colour had gone from the world. I won’t ever begin to fathom the pain that I felt and will do for the rest of my life. I was left homeless, with no where safe to turn. Nothing to fall back on, all I had was my thoughts, and silence.
Somehow I still went and worked, but soon realised this job wasn’t sustainable for me now I was living on my own. If I was going to escape the hell I was in I needed to think bigger and take a risk. This was when I decided to take a leap of faith, take the skills I had being a kids entertainer and start my own business independently. I poured all my energy and resources into building my brand and creating memorable experiences for children. It wasn't easy, and there were many times when I felt like giving up, but I was determined to succeed in honor of my father's memory.
& so was born AMIGO PARTIES!
I wanted to create the happiness and laughter for kids that my own inner child has been missing out on for so long.
Slowly but surely, my business began to grow, and I started to get more and more bookings for birthday parties and events. Seeing the joy on children's faces as I entertained party after party made all the hard work worth it. The feeling of a kid saying to me “this is the best day ever” is indescribably fulfilling.
I made something out of nothing, from all the tears and fears I’d felt - I put it into something beautiful. AMIGO PARTIES saved my life. It gave me a new purpose and something to work and earn from while still going for acting jobs and pursuing my music.
