It was wonderful to spend time a few years ago with Lindsay for his interview and q&a at Guildford School of Acting after such a long time

2025 was an amazing year for the phenomenal actor that is Shalini Peiris who I have had the honour to know as her acting trainer for some years now.
Co-starring roles in three major TV series, undertaken with diligence, care and skill.
When people come to me to train, I don't and can't promise industry success. In 'the industry', I am just a schmuk, a never-has-been. But, I have been around for a long, long time (my first, paid, role on a professional stage was in 1975), have been unrelentingly dedicated to the craft of acting in one way or another throughout, and have experienced and have learned a thing or two along the way.
What I do promise is that, by training with me and employing the training in their work, with diligence and care, such as Shalini is such a great example of, they will become an actor that people will want to work with and that they will experience the pricelessness of being able to work reliably at depth, at the service of scene, character, director or production and that that the freedom that results is not only beneficial and necessary in the world, but also makes the work generative and enjoyable - 'fun', even. Who knew??
I think there is a phrase that goes something like: 'someone who dedicates themselves to a craft will never have to work a day in their life'.
Because of her dedication to her practice, that extends way beyond the camera lens or training room, into volunteering and practical support of those experiencing oppression and deprivation, working with Shalini never feels like work. And finally, the truth of the situation emerges: It is 'The Industry' that needs actors like this, not the other way round.
